Happy 17th Birthday Tom!

July 26 - Tom is 17 years old! I can't believe it! Seems like just the other day I would give him a bath in the kitchen sink! Here's a photo of Tom at about 4 months, 8-9 pounds at a resort on the Parana River on the border of Paraguay and Argentina, I think (November 1992).

I made him an apple cinnamon cake this morning. He is half asleep in the photos but Tina is working at Kroger today and wanted him to have his cake before she went to work. Tom wanted to sleep in... so he had his cake, ate it too, then went back to bed, awww! nice brother!

Tom has cheeks full of cake in the photo with Tina and in the photo with me. He loves the cake!
Many of his friends get cars on their 16 or 17 birthday but Tom got his hat and I'll take him to get a state ID. He is currently in drivers ed but we don't have the resources for a car for him to drive so he better keep his bike tires inflated!
Seems like just the other day that I was in South American holding a desperately sick orphan in need of medical care, and now here he is! an all American guy! God is good! but Tom wishes he father would give him a car.
