Northern Illinois Univ Shooting

As many of you know, my first two and a half years of undergrad was at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois. I lived in Stevenson South my first year and worked at the library, lived in Grant North my second year and was a reporter for the Northern Star where I once scooped the Wall Street Journal and they called me for my sources! but my third year I was an RA in an off campus dorm, and since I was putting myself through school I needed the job for free room and board, but the dorm closed at winter break and I had to drop out. I moved to Chicago to live with some friends and transferred to Northeastern Illinois University, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Finance.

NIU is where I became independent, my own person. Watching all the recent news coverage brought back memories. I took a sociology class and finite math in the very auditorium of the shootings. What a critical time in life, going from the safety and security of family and home to the protected microenviron of college life before the big world. Well, it should be protected and safe, I think NIU responded quickly. How insecure and vulnerable todays college students must feel! How unfortunate!

I pray for the victims, the witnesses, the families, everyone!
